Wedding Photographer's Dream

Wedding photographers may dream of the perfect day, where everything falls into place, enabling them to take perfect photographs.  It is just a dream but would go something like this :

I met the bride and groom a few times before the wedding and clearly understood their wishes and their personalities and these were reflected in the photographs.

I went to the wedding rehearsal and understood what the vicar / officials would allow regarding photographing the wedding.

We did a pre-wedding shoot at the church and at the reception location and this put the bride and groom at their ease in front of the camera.

As a result of previous meetings and discussions, I was considered as a trusted friend by the bride and groom and not just another supplier.

The bride’s dressing room was spacious and allowed me to move around for photographs.

There was a large window facing north in the bride’s dressing room that allowed in plenty of natural light.  (North facing gives good but not excessive light as in east or west facing).

The bride followed my tips on the bride’s dressing room, as in a separate blog entry.

The bride had a timing plan for the day, with spare time added in, just in case.

The bride and groom followed the timing plan and as a result had a few moments spare throughout the day to compose themselves.

I had enough time to get from the bride’s house to the wedding venue, take some photographs and was ready to capture the bridesmaids and bride when they arrived.

The weather was bright but not a harsh midday sunshine.  There was no need for the umbrellas in my car boot or the rainy day contingency plan.

There were plenty of large shaded areas for photographs, especially important for the group shots.

The bride and groom and wedding party all knew how to stand properly for best effect in official photographs.

The bride and groom had a wish list of no more than 6 group photos.

The bride was able to refresh her make-up during the day, avoiding a shiny face.

Everyone was available for the group photographs, and guests had to wait no longer than 10 minutes for the “official” group photographs.

The reception venue was as beautiful as the bride and groom, and the combination was stunning.

The bride and groom had time in their plan for photographs away from the reception and wedding guests, allowing them to relax in beautiful surroundings.

The groom, best man and ushers were not camera shy, and the groom helps to put the others at ease, allowing a number of amusing photos.

Other guests did not get in the way of the group photos or cutting of the cake.

Lighting in the evening reception venue was constant without large flashing lights.
The DJ turned off the large rotating lights for the bride and grooms first dance, allowing me to get the best possible photographs.

Photographs were taken throughout the evening celebrations, capturing the emotion and enjoyment of the occasion.

I was able to capture the natural flow of the day without interfering with the wedding party.
